Brief Bio
My name is Shayan Shafquat. I am from a small place called “Hazaribagh” (a land of thousand gardens), India. I am a curious researcher on topics related to neuroscience, artificial intelligence.
I have a masters degree in Mathematics and Computing. I have experience applying ML models, NLP techniques and reinforcement learning algorithms.
My thinking has been influenced by Geoffrey Hinton, Demis Hassabis, Yoshua Bengio and Terrence Sejnowski. I feel to create better AI agents; we must first study the emergence of intelligence in biological brains.
Other than this, I enjoy to read on startup culture of India. I also like to listen to a lot of different music, watch and play football.

August 2022 Neuromatch academy project to study the role of reward and punishment related changes in behaviour of a mice during a 2AFC task
June 2022 Started working on the Bahl cell model and macaque A1 cortical model as a part GSoC 2022 under the mentorship of Padraig Gleeson and Ankur Sinha
March 2022 Submitted my proposal for GSoC 2022 under the organization INCF
January 2022 Left the role of Data Scientist at OLA (ride hailing firm) to pursue my research interests in the field of Computational Neuroscience
June 2020 Completed my graduation from IIT Kharagpur with B.Sc and Msc. in the course of Mathematics and Computing
